Six local baseball teams remain in the high school baseball playoffs and two of them will play each other this week.
Nederland and PNG will meet in the 5A Regional Quarterfinals. They’ll play at Nederland Thursday at 7pm. Friday Game Two will be at PNG at 7pm. And if a third game is necessary it will be at Lamar, Saturday at 8pm. The Bulldogs beat the Indians in both district games this season 5-2, 5-0.
The Orangefield Bobcats will have a home and home series against the Pollok Central Bulldogs located just north of Lufkin.
Game One is Thursday at 6pm in Pollok (7622 US69, Pollock, 75969) with Game Two and Three if necessary beginning at 3pm Saturday in Orangefield at Cormier Field. KOGT will carry the series.
Pollok eliminated Buna and Van Vleck in their two playoff series. The Bulldogs were the second place team out of District 21 behind Central Heights. The winner will face either Grandview or Troy.
Also in the 3A Regional Quarterfinals are the Kirbyville Wildcats. The Wildcats (26-6) will play Palacios (18-10) in a best of three at Pearland on Friday and Saturday.
In 4A the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks took care of Brazosport and will now face Huffman. They’ll play two on Thursday and Game 3 on Friday if necessary with a site to be determined. The winner will play either Waco Robinson or Lufkin Hudson.
The Evadale Rebels are in the third round of the 2A Region IV bracket. They will play Thrall in a Thursday-Friday best of three at Tomball Premier Academy.
