Orange County deputy Andrew Hollier was injured Tuesday night when the patrol car he was driving collided with pickup truck driven by a pizza delivery man. The collision was about 7:15 p.m. on Highway 62 near Tulane Road. The highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports both drivers were taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Sergeant Stephanie Davis said the preliminary report incidcates the deputy was traveling northbound on Highway 62. The Chevrolet pickup truck pulled out from a parking lot in the path of the patrol car. The deputy’s car hit the passenger door of the pickup.
The driver of the pickup was 59-year-old Clifton Walker of Groves.
Davis said the crash is still under investigation.
