Monica Lynn Sonnier was born November 6, 1959, and passed away September 28, 2026, at the age of 66.
Monica loved many simple things in life. She enjoyed cross-stitching and crafting, spending time with her family, and making memories with her lifelong partner, Andrew Marty Love Jr. She found joy in the people she loved and in the hobbies that kept her hands and heart busy.
Monica dedicated many years to helping others. She worked at OCARC for 15-20 years and spent 10 years working with Friends Helping Friends. Her commitment to her work and the people around her was an important part of her life.
Those who knew Monica will remember her for her loving heart, her creativity, her dedication to others, and perhaps her love of a good cheeseburger and a Coke.
She is survived by her siblings, James B. “Buddy” Sonnier, Bernard Eugene “Benny” Sonnier and wife Darla, and Paulette Alicia Allbritton and husband Wayne; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Barfield, Chris Barfield, James Sonnier, Shontel Smith, Joseph Sonnier, Jeremy Sonnier, Joel Sonnier, Collin Sonnier, Benard Sonnier, Gabrielle Phillips, and Jonathan Barfield; love of her life and lifelong partner, Andrew Marty Love Jr.; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents, James “JB” Sonnier Sr and Patsy Sonnier; siblings, Joseph “Joey” Sonnier, and Cheryl Barfield.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Dorman – Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North, Orange, Texas. Father Michael Strother will be officiating. Rite of committal will immediately follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 4320 Meeks Drive, Orange, Texas.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Focused Care of Orange, Texas, and Altus Hospice for the wonderful care, kindness, compassion, and support they provided to Monica. Their dedication and loving care brought comfort to Monica and her loved ones during her final days, and the family will always be grateful.
