Linda Sue Ochoa Hoffpauir, a woman of many talents and loving mother, passed peacefully at age 69 in her home on August 3, 2026 with her family by her side.
She was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 15,1956, the daughter of the late Selso and Margaret Reyes Ochoa. She was raised in Vidor, Texas, which served as her residence for the remainder of her life. Academically gifted, Linda graduated from Vidor High School where she participated in Brigadettes and choir. While in Physics class at VHS, she met her lifelong partner Thomas “Tom” Morgan Hoffpauir. They married on December 20,1973.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Linda was sealed to her family on June 5, 1987. She also served her church and its members in several capacities.
Linda was a gifted seamstress, a skill she learned from her mother, and when her children asked her to buy certain clothes, she responded, “I can make that,” much to some of their chagrin. In addition to clothing, she created uniforms for cheerleaders, twirlers, Brigettes as well as wedding dresses for her daughters.
Linda spent a great deal of time making costumes for Arrington Dance Studio, where she also worked as the secretary. She was often seen in the studio’s waiting room measuring for costumes, sewing ribbons on pointe shoes, cutting fabric pieces, and gluing countless sequins.
Linda was involved in all of the activities of her children and grandchildren and supported them buying t-shirts, participating in fundraisers, and attending football games, concerts, graduations, awards ceremonies, and performances of any kind. She also supported her friends and community in their business endeavors, assisting with events, and supporting the Vidor Pirates.
Linda was a talented vocalist. Her singing voice was strong, clear, and beautiful. Linda was often a soloist in choirs and performed in church and many funerals. At home, she and her family would stand around the family piano and sing first soprano while the rest of the family sang harmonies.
Linda achieved an associate’s degree in Accounting from Lamar University. Upon graduation, she worked as an Accounting Clerk for Billy Braneff, CPA for many years.
Linda enjoyed going on cruises, crafting, music – including the Aggie Marching Band, trigonometry, and shopping. However, she was happiest at home with her family.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, brother Arthur Ochoa, sister-in-law Gwendolyn Ochoa, and grandson Jeremy Pavlich.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 51 years, Tom; their six children Keith (Anna), Lisa (Shim), Karin, Elizabeth “Beth” (Michael), John, and Margaret “Maggie”; grandchildren Cameron, Ariana, Alexzander, Lexi, Benjamin, Amelia Manning, Clay, Celes and Terra; great-grandson Kai; brothers Adrian, David, and James Ochoa; 11 nieces and nephews; dog Alfred; and countless extended family members and loved ones.
Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She opened her home to everyone and welcomed them as if they were family. She will be remembered for her creativity, talent, warmth, and giving nature. Those fortunate to know her have certainly been blessed to have had her in their lives. She touched many lives and will always be remembered for the gifts she gave.
An informal reception will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 2:00PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6198 FM 105, Vidor, TX.
