Vivian “Gail” Legendre, 72, of Vidor, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family in the early morning hours on August 4, 2026. Gail was born on November 26, 1953, in Beaumont, Texas, to Ray Echus Carder and Frances Evelyn Primrose Carder.
Gail’s life was firmly rooted in her faith in God, and she and Mark built their family on the foundation of His love, grace, and guidance. Nothing brought her greater joy than caring for those she loved. Her family was her greatest blessing, her proudest accomplishment, and the center of her life. Through her prayers, strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion, she created a legacy of faith and love that will continue to guide her family for generations.
Gail loved living life and was always ready for the next adventure. She loved trips to the beach with family and friends, and traveling to see her grandchildren. Most recently, she enjoyed road tripping to Virginia with her brother, sister, and mother. She enjoyed coffees with her mother and aunts, family game nights, and movie nights with Mark.
Gail will be remembered for her gentle, generous, and selfless nature, always thinking about others and making sure everyone was taken care of and comfortable, and putting the needs of others above her own. She found joy in teaching the children at church about Jesus and the Bible and making sure the classrooms were engaging and beautiful. Holidays were something special to Gail. Her house was always decorated like it belonged in a magazine and her Christmas Tree is one that cannot be rivaled.
Those who will continue to carry her love in their hearts include her loving husband, Mark Legendre of nearly 52 years, her son Brent Legendre and wife Charlsi, her daughter Jackie Hodges and husband David, her grandchildren Courtnie Kidda and husband Andrew, Brayden Hodges, Lauren Burcham and husband Luke, Lexi Legendre, and great-granddaughter Evelyn Kidda. Gail also leaves behind her sister, Dottie Henderson, and brothers Ray Carder and John Carder and wife Kelly, and many nieces and nephews. Her church family was definitely an extension of her earthly family as she cherished each of them dearly.
Those who completed their earthly journey before her are her father, Ray Carder, her brother, Mike Carder, and her mother, Fran Carder.
