Bridge City Councilman Aaron Roccaforte is running for mayor. He’s submitted his statement below.
Bridge City has always been home to me. I grew up here, attended school here, and proudly graduated from Bridge City High School in 2000. It’s where my family lives, where my business is located, and where I’ve been honored to serve on City Council since 2021.
Over the last several years, I’ve had the opportunity to help move our city forward in meaningful ways. During my time on council, we’ve worked to secure millions of dollars in grant funding for critical infrastructure projects, including major transportation and wastewater improvements that will benefit Bridge City for generations to come. We’ve also supported quality-of-life projects like new recreational amenities, strengthened long-term planning, and focused on responsible budgeting to protect taxpayers while investing in the future.
In addition to my role on council, I currently serve on the Executive Committee of the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC), where I work alongside regional leaders to advocate for infrastructure, transportation, and economic development opportunities that directly impact our area.
With Mayor David Rutledge having reached his term limit, Bridge City is entering a new chapter. I want to sincerely thank Mayor Rutledge for his years of service and dedication to our city. His leadership and commitment have helped guide Bridge City through important growth and challenges.
After much thought, prayer, and encouragement from many of you, I am announcing that I am running for Mayor of Bridge City.
I’m running because I care deeply about this community. I believe Bridge City deserves leadership that listens, communicates openly, and stays focused on what matters most: strong infrastructure, public safety, fiscal responsibility, and preserving the small-town values that make this place special.
This isn’t about politics for me — it’s about service. I want to continue building on the progress we’ve made, working collaboratively, and helping ensure Bridge City remains a place we’re proud to call home.
I truly appreciate your support, your prayers, and your feedback. If you ever want to visit, share concerns, or talk about ideas for our city, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
