Orangefield JV 34
Buna JV 12
The Orangefield JV Bobcats opened district play at Buna with a 34-12 win. The Bobcats improved their record to 5-0 Overall, 1-0 District.
Orangefield got on the scoreboard first when Kaleb Menard and Carson Worthy tackled the ball carrier in the endzone for a safety to lead 2-0. The Bobcats would then go score 3 times in the 2nd quarter. Kyler Green ran for a 9-yard touchdown with Colt Longron running in for the 2-point play to give the Bobcats a 10-0 lead. Next Buna possession, Menard would get an interception and score a touchdown from 36 yards out. Ashton Sumrall would run in the 2-point play to extend the lead to 18-0. Green would score his second touchdown of the night from 3 yards out and Worthy would run in the 2-point conversion to lead 26-0. The Cougars would score late in the 2nd quarter to make the halftime score 26-6. In the 4th quarter, Sumrall would score from 4 yards out and then run in the 2-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 34-6 lead. Buna would score at the end of the game to make the final score 34-12. The JV Bobcats will host Anahuac next Thursday at home.

Bridge City Middle School hosted three games against Nederland Central on Tuesday night.
The 7th grade white team improved to 1-1 on the year with a 14-6 win over the Canines. The offense was led by Davis Ritchey who rushed for 100 yards and had touchdown runs of 15 and 65 yards. Camden Fall, Chris Carranza, Brody Lonion, and Rylan Thompson also had nice runs for the Cardinals. The line was led by Jimmy Bercian. The defense was led by Corban Palfy who led the team in tackles and had a fumble recovery. Christian Dupuis had several nice plays including a forced fumble. Macon Mendoza had a nice pass deflection. Other leading tacklers were Landon Sanchez, Brayden Bull, Antonio Rodriguez, and Garrick Lewis.
The 7th grade red team dropped to 2-1 on the year with a 32-0 loss to the Canines. The offense struggled to move the ball consistently for the first time this year. Defensive leaders were Aaron Toups who had a strip fumble recovery, and tackle for loss. Romeo Mendoza also played well in the loss.
The 8th grade red team improved to 3-0 on the season. For the second straight week the Cardinals were down 12-8 and half and had a huge second half effort to take the win 32-12. The offensive line had a great night up front led by Slade Landry, Caleb Heraldez, Dalton Dickson, Bryson Lopez, and Camden Adams. The Cardinals got the scoring going with a nice touchdown pass from Hudson Hoffman to Drake Blackwell for 60 yards. Then the ground game went to work with Bryce Breeden going over a 100 yards including a long 85 yard touchdown run. Hoffman also added a 7 yard touchdown scamper in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach. Keagan Trahan, Jayden Dodge, and Carson Bounds all pounded out tough runs as well. The defense was led by leading tackler Keagan Trahan and Caleb Heraldez also had several big plays including a sack and tackle for loss. Bryce Breeden had a huge fumble recovery in the 3rd quarter and had a nice lateral to Alex Chappell that turned into a long touchdown for the defense. CJ Larkin, Jayden Dodge, Carson Bounds, and Jordan Cordova all played well on defense.
Our 8th grade white team traveled to Kountze Wednesday night. We were defeated by the Lions 39-0, falling to 0-3 on the year. The offense was led by Braylyn Atia, Brayden Greer, Jackson Richey, and Antony Garcia who all had nice runs. Quarterbacks Jason Melancon and Antony Garcia also had several nice passes to Atia, Carson Young, and Peyton Tran. The defense was led by Brayan Collazo, Kaston Flowers, Vincent Chau, Stephen Kelly, Ricky Kelly, Antony Garcia, Hayden Holden, Braylyn Atia, Carson Richey, and Jackson Richey who had a forced fumble. All four teams will host Nederland’s CO Wilson on Thursday, September 29th, starting at 4:00.
