The weekly fishing report for Rayburn, TBend and Sabine Lake from Texas Parks & Wildlife.
Sam Rayburn – GOOD. Water stained; 56 degrees; 3.49 feet low. Bass are fair some shallow on beds using crankbaits on points, ditches and drains. Switch to Carolina rigs or drop shots near the creek channel ledges. Crappie are slow migrating back into the lake for the spawn. Catfish are in 12-18 feet of water in the channels biting on cut bait. Few white bass. Report by Lynn Atkinson, Reel Um N Guide Service.
Toledo Bend – FAIR. Water stained; 55 degrees; 2.38 feet low. The water level is 169.3 with no generators running. Toledo Bend had two cold fronts in our area this week with cold rain and heavy winds dropping the water temperatures down at night to the 30s-40s. Water clarity this week is hard to say. Not too many boats on the water. Water temperature in the main lake deep water is 55 degrees and further back in the creeks it is 50-58 This week for bass is probably a blowout due to heavy North winds. Crappie were on the bite earlier this week in shallow water. Find that magic crappie water temperature of 58-degree and put them in the sack. Good luck and tight lines! Report from Captain Steve (Scooby) Stubbe, Mudfish Adventures LLC, Mudfish Rod Shop, Kayak/Guide Service.
Sabine Lake – GOOD. 57 degrees. Speckled trout with a few redfish mixed in are good in the channel in 4-25 feet of water on quarter ounce red eye ZMan and chartreuse MinnowZ. Slot flounder are good on gulp shrimp and red eye ZMan tipped with shrimp on points and drops in each bayou. Flounder are good on the Texas and Louisiana side of Sabine pass Channel in 5-15 feet of water working crab trap lines. Speckled trout and redfish are good in the outgoing tides at the mouths of cuts and bayous in 3-6 feet of water keying on mullet using chartreuse fat boy corkies. The North end of Sabine still has a good bite for redfish and trout on the mouth of East Pass off shell in 2-5 feet of water using root beer chartreuse tail MinnowZ. Drum are good in the Neches river with some sheepshead mixed in on points and drops in the marsh 3-15 feet of water and in. Limits of sheepshead and drum in the marsh in 8-20 feet of water on live shrimp, Carolina rigs, and shrimp under a popping cork.
