
Mrs. Frances Bertrand, age 81, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, in Silsbee, Texas.
Mrs. Bertrand was born June 28, 1940, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to parents Ava Angeline (Watson) and William Alanzo Coward and had lived in the Orange County area since 1952. She was a retired bookkeeper and had a great love of sports, especially basketball and golf. Frances was a talented musician and played many different instruments. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she played piano and enjoyed singing.
Frances and Mitchell M. Bertrand were married July 3, 2002, and he preceded her in death in 2020.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, M. Don Watson, Irvin A. Coward, and Jim E. Coward; sister, Adele Parsons; and daughter, Lorena Bertrand.
Her survivors include daughter, Leslie Guidry and husband Michael of Mauriceville, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica Dumesnil and husband Brock of Buna, Texas, Eric Pierce and wife Lakin of Orange, Texas, and Sydney Brown and husband Tyler of Mauriceville, Texas; great-grandchildren, Addyson, Harper, Lily, Isaac, Denver, and Clara; brothers, Robert L. Coward of Laurel, Mississippi, George W. Coward of Fremont, California, and Cecil C. Coward of Winton, California; and sisters, Jean Martin and Arlene Troutman, both of Orange, Texas, Aline Goddard of Oak Ridge, Oregon, and Louise Juchartz of Athens, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021, at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange, Texas, with Pastor Kevin Inman officiating.
Pallbearers: Michael Guidry, Brock Dumesnil, Eric Pierce, Tyler Brown, Jason Pierce, and P.J. LeBlanc.
Services are under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.
