Deweyville’s Landon Burks and Justin Sutton who took home the first place in the Deep East Texas High School Tournament held last weekend on Sam Rayburn with weigh-in at Jackson Hill Marina.
The Pirate duo had a two day total of 39.08 and Big Bass of the tournament with a 7.97 and their bag also included a 7.05 on the second day of competition.
Only the Top 30 qualifiers competed along with a random draw of five lucky wild card pulls.
LCM had four teams that qualified. Jacob Longlois / Tanner Stewart finished 4th for a scholarship award. Also fishing were Justin Lee / Hunter Fant, Garrison Byerly/ Will Henson, Justin James / Gavin Cooper.
Through permission of the County Judge and the Corps of Engineers, Deep East Texas HS Fishing managed a no-contact Championship. No spectators-unless they were on the water in a boat from a distance. The tournament was a drive through process where the anglers never left their boat.
