Harvey can’t stop Santa Claus from coming to the Heritage House Museum this year. For 40 years, Santa has made his annual visit to the Victorian-age house to talk to children. This year, he will be there Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Heritage House President Leslie Williams said the museum’s campus suffered damages during Tropical Storm Harvey, but the board wanted to continue the long-time tradition with Santa.
The main house is the former residence of banker J.O. Sims. Flood waters did not get inside the Sims house, which sustained some other storm-related damages. However, the office building and the Williams Building, which holds the archives of the late historian Dr. Howard Williams, flooded.
Santa will be set up in the parlor of the main house. He will be surrounded by mechanical toys and the children will be able to play with them. Williams said there is no charge for the visit with Santa. She said next year, the museum will have an open house tour for the Christmas season.
