No one was injured Wednesday morning when a pickup truck hydroplaned on 16th Street in Orange and hit a utility pole. Orange police report the Entergy pole broke in half and part of it fell on the hood of the truck. Two other vehicles were slightly damaged. The accident was at 10:40 a.m. in the 2000 block of 16th Street.
Officer L.T. Holland said a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 17-year-old Nicholas Scott Carey of Starks, was traveling southbound in the inside lane. The truck hydroplaned, went across the outside lane and then went off the road.
The truck hit some small trees, that lay down on a 2017 Hyandai Sonata that was parked but not occupied. Then the truck hit an Entergy pole which broke in half.
Carey and his passenger, 17-year-old Zachary James Carey, were not injured.
Officer Holland reported a Buick Lacerne driving by was hit by a cable line that snapped when the pole broke, causing minor damage. The car was driven by 21-year-old Nathan Douglas Marshall with 21-year-old Justin Paul Marshall as a passenger. Neither were injured.
Nicholas Scott Carey was given a ticket for failure to maintain a single lane.
