Tropical Storm Cindy is expected to make landfall late tonight or early Thursday morning near the Texas-Louisiana state line. The main weather impacts we are monitoring are the rainfall, storm surge, winds, and tornadoes. Three to five inches of rain is still expected, with the potential for 10 inches if a rain band sits over an individual location for several hours. Due to the tides running above normal, streets will be easily flooded and water could enter some homes. At the coast, the next high tide will occur after midnight tonight. With a 2 to 3 foot storm surge, coastal flooding is expected in Sabine Pass, parts of Bridge City, Highway 82 around Holly Beach, downtown Cameron, Pecan Island, Intracoastal City, Delcambre, Cypremort Point, Burns Point, Amelia, and potentially Stephensville. Winds will be on the increase tonight, with gusts to tropical storm force expected in most locations before sunrise. Windy conditions should improve by midday Thursday. Expect scattered power outages and a few trees blown down. Finally, there is a small tornado threat tonight into Thursday for most of the region.
