Man Flees After Shooting His Way Into Dollar General
Update: Authorities believe they have found two men responsible for the crime and have them in custody for questioning. Around 10pm Thursday authorities were called to the recently opened Dollar General Store on 1442 near I-10 after a man shot through the front door with a pistol and walked in while employees locked themselves in the office. He then left the store and reportedly fled south. Video had the man wearing a long sleeved camo shirt with gloves, a mask and dark pants. He was also carrying a hatchet or hammer in his other hand. Chase On 16th Leads To Arrest
It took six or seven patrol vehicles to stop a man accused of reckless driving on Highway 87 Thursday afternoon. The chase led south onto 16th Street where the red Charger was stopped near Novrosky's restaurant at 2:50 p.m. The two young women who called 911 after he almost hit them said he had black foam coming from his mouth. He told officers he had taken poison. Acadian Ambulance arrived and took him to a hospital. Evading Arrest Sends Man To Jail
A man with a complaint about trespassing also faces charges of evading arrest on foot and resisting arrest. Orange police said the woman reporting him said he had smoked crack cocaine. Police at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday went to a house in the 2400 block of Fourth Street in the Brownwood neighborhood. A resident of a house had obtained a trespass document preventing the man from her property and she called police when he showed up. By the time police arrived, the man had run away. OISD Takes Quick Action On Hit List
Thursday, October 11, 2018, administrators at Orangefield Junior High became aware of an anonymous written threat directed at a group of OJH students. The District immediately notified law enforcement. The identity of the author has been confirmed and appropriate action has been taken by the district. Following a thorough investigation, the District determined that the threat was not credible. Accident Could’ve Been Worse
Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said a child safety seat and a seat belt helped prevent more serious injuries in a collision Thursday morning that sent an adult a 2-year-old to a hospital. The crash was about 7:45 a.m. on the eastbound Interstate 10 access road near FM 1132. Carroll said a passenger van was traveling eastbound on the access road. A Vidor garbage truck was stopped in the outside lane with workers picking up trash cans. Thompson Talks Tigers
Last week was one the West Orange-Stark Mustangs would like to forget. That does not mean Coach Cornel Thompson will not remind the players of what he considers a step backwards taken by the Mustangs in the loss to Jasper. The coach sees two different football teams on the videos of last year’s team that went to the state championship and this season’s squad. The only thing that has changed is the personnel.
