Receiving Third Place Ribbons in the campus level competition are Bailee Pollack, Makinzi Stevens and Braylee Freeman. West Orange City Secretary Theresa Van Meter released the following info concerning Harvey debris: The City of West Orange was notified this morning that the County has extended the Hurricane Harvey debris removal contract. A time frame for this extension is unknown at this time, but any debris resulting from the storm is eligible for pickup. Do not place this debris in roadways or ditches, or anywhere that would impair visibility to motorists. Jones Says BC Deficit Temporary
The City Council heard the annual audit for Bridge City on Tuesday evening. Accountant Keri Michutka informed that the city had a $151,000 deficit as of September 30, 2017 when she performed the audit. City Manager Jerry Jones explained there were several reasons for the deficit and that Bridge City has money in the bank despite the deficit. The problem started last year when Bridge City did not have the fund balance the city thought it had when it purchased over $200,000 in equipment. Several teens from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School visited their former school to lend a helping hand. St. Mary Catholic School students “Enter to Learn, Exit to Serve”. Mittie Lynn Mitchell Brammer, 95, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Acadia General Hospital. Born in Sulphur, Louisiana, Mittie grew up in DeQuincy, Louisiana, and graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1938. After high school, she began attending McNeese State University where she met the love of her life, Chris Brammer Sr., to whom she was married for 57 years. Officer Attacked At Police Station
An Orange patrol officer was bruised, scratched and had two bumps on his head after being attacked by a man who had caused a disturbance at the police station. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said L. Lovelace is recuperating after being treated at an emergency room, but the officer was not seriously injured. 54-year-old Isaac Hudson Jr. of Orange was arrested by other officers who stopped the fight. Three children and a bus driver escaped injury Tuesday morning when the back driver's side wheels came off a Little Cypress-Mauriceville school bus. District Spokeswoman Sherry Combs said the driver was able to steer the bus to the side of the road and stop safely. The three students were picked up by another school bus and completed their route. Combs said one set of lug nuts is used for the double tires on the bus. The lug nuts came off, leading to the wheels to come off.
