Burton To Ask For Recount
Nine more mail-in ballots in the Republican primary came in to the Orange County Elections Administration Wednesday, but none of the nine were from Precinct 2 boxes, where four votes separated two candidates. Former Orange City Councilor Theresa Adams Beauchamp leads with 1,038 votes compared to 1,034 for incumbent Barry Burton. Elections Administrator Tina Barrow said the Texas Legislature passed a new law last year that went into effect in December concerning mail-in ballots. The Republican race for Orange County Precinct 2 commissioner won't be over until Wednesday afternoon when the mail arrives at the Orange County Courthouse. "I might get one in, I might get 100 in," said Orange County Elections Administrator Tina Barrow. Voters traveled to the polls Tuesday looking for change and they'll receive it with three new members on the five member Commissioners Court in Orange County. In the race for Orange County Judge, Dean Crooks, a retired Beaumont Police Officer, defeated incumbent Brint Carlton with 57% of the vote. Crooks will face Democrat Donald Brown in November. Kaylee Ancelot registered a save with 3 strikeouts in the top of the 7th, stranding a runner on first. The Lady Bobcats scored two runs in the top of the first. Kaylee Ancelot went 2 for 2 with a homerun and a walk. Tiffany Ciancaglione reached on a walk and scored on a Kinley Gipson single.
