The Jasper Bulldogs hit two homeruns in the first inning, including a grand slam by Colton Womack, and went on to beat the Bridge City Cardinals Friday afternoon 14-7. Down 7-0, BC scored four runs in the second inning. Jasper would add another run in the third and sixth inning. Anderson Gets Win For McNeese
McNeese’s 3-4-5 hitters combined to collect six hits with two of those doubles and one home run while scoring four runs of their own and Cayne Ueckert closed the door in the final 1.1 innings as the Cowboys downed Stephen F. Austin, 7-5, in the first game of a three-game Southland Conference baseball series. The win was the fourth straight for McNeese as it improved to 6-11 overall and moved to 3-1 in league play. Man Arrested In Stolen Pickup
An Orange police officer stopped a stolen pickup truck speeding down Simmons Drive Wednesday. The driver used an identification card from the Jefferson County Jail to identify himself to the officer. Lieutenant Robert Estrello reported he stopped the truck about 11 a.m. on Simmons at Green Avenue. He said he had seen the Dodge Ram going southbound speeding and passing other vehicles. BC Takes Game One From OF
The district opener between Bridge City and Orangefield lived up to its billing and in the end, it was Cardinal senior Kassidy Wilbur showing why she's the best player in Southeast Texas. Wilbur struck out 14 while hitting a two run homer to lead the Lady Cardinals to a 4-2 win over the Bobcats. But the win didn't come without a fight. Bobcats, Fregia Comeback To Win
After Liberty scored seven runs in the first two innings off of Orangefield starter Mason Gonzales, it didn't appear it was going to be the Bobcats day. But OF had other ideas. Down 7-2, the Bobcats began their comeback with two in the fourth, and then took the lead with six runs in the sixth to take a 10-7 lead.
