Little Pauline Colburn taught class to every doll and stuffed animal she had. She got out books and planned special lessons for those in remedial studies. She took the advanced students on field trips around the neighborhood. The imagination and determination of that child has never stopped. Commissioners Approve Airport Board
The Commissioners Court approved appointments to the Airport Advisory Board on Tuesday. The Commissioners took no action though to approve modifications to the Orange County Airport. The board is composed of seven people including County Judge Dean Crooks, Commissioner John Gothia, and former Commissioner David Dubose who is also a pilot. Other board members are Missy Pillsbury the Airport Supervisor, Assistant County Attorney Denise Gremillion, Tom Foreman and Al Judice both pilots at the airport. Burke Finishes 11th In 4A Golf
LCM's Jack Burke shot an 81 on Day Two of the 4A State Golf Tournament to finish tied to 11th. He went into Day Two in fifth place after a round of 77. The freshman was disappointed but already eager to get back to State next year. "I struggled with my putts," he said. "My wedges and irons were good and I only had a few bad shots off the tee." The tournament took place on the Apple Rock course at Horseshoe Bay which is near Marble Falls. It's one of three courses at the resort. Burglary of Two Businesses, Stolen SUV Recovered
Orange police Monday recovered a stolen SUV and arrested two people wanted on a variety of warrants. A patrol officer reported he was sent about 4:30 p.m. to look for a 2018 Ford Escape stolen in Pinehurst. He saw the vehicle in the Denny's parking lot at 7112 Interstate 10. Two people were inside the SUV. When the woman in the passenger seat saw the officer, the man in the driver's seat slowly started driving away in the parking lot. The officer reported the man would not stop when ordered. The officer went back to his patrol car, turned on the siren and called for police back-up. At the May meeting of the Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD Board of Trustees, Eddie Michalko was approved as the new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach for LCM High School. Coach Michalko has 37 years of experience, with a record of 1020 wins and 355 losses. He has won four state championships at Hackberry High School in Louisiana and been state runner-up four times at Lacassine High School, also in Louisiana. Man Dressed As Woman, Robs Store
On May 14, 2018, at about 9:41 PM, an aggravated robbery was reported at the Honey Stop located at 1012 Park Avenue in Orange. It is believed that a black male dressed as a female entered the store and used a knife to commit an aggravated robbery. The suspect is believed to be approximately 6 foot tall and about 200 pounds. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money during the robbery.
