Orange police Monday recovered a stolen SUV and arrested two people wanted on a variety of warrants.
A patrol officer reported he was sent about 4:30 p.m. to look for a 2018 Ford Escape stolen in Pinehurst. He saw the vehicle in the Denny’s parking lot at 7112 Interstate 10. Two people were inside the SUV. When the woman in the passenger seat saw the officer, the man in the driver’s seat slowly started driving away in the parking lot.
The officer reported the man would not stop when ordered. The officer went back to his patrol car, turned on the siren and called for police back-up. The SUV never left the parking lot and officer blocked it at the gas pumps.
Police report Christopher Shaun Drucker of Orange and Danielle Ashley George of Nederland were arrested. George was wanted on a theft warrant from Calcasieu Parish with no bond. Drucker had Orange County warrants issued for two counts of forged writing, credit card abuse, forgery-counterfeit money, and failure to verify sex offender registery. He was held on no bond for some of the warrants.
Two businesses in Orange reported burglaries on Monday. Police said someone got into the Dairy Queen on Strickland Drive and tried to get into the safe. The would-be thief got inside by damaging a window on the covered patio area. The break-in was discovered about 6:30 a.m.
At 9:10 a.m., police went to Trevco Insurance, 2918 16th Street. Sometime during the weekend someone broke inside and took a number of items.
