OPD Investigates Shot and Pot
A 20-year-old man was shot in the arm Wednesday night. Orange police learned about the assault at 10:48 from an emergency clinic where the man had gone to be treated. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the shooting is being investigated as an aggravated assault. The man told police he was sitting in a car at the James Zay Roberts Apartments, 610 Burton Avenue. He heard two men arguing and then heard gunshots. He said shots hit his vehicle and one hit him in the right forearm. It was the second shooting in Orange in four days. United Way Donates Tools To Bears
The United Way of Orange County generously donated tools to Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD, and other districts, in response to the loss of equipment due to damage from Hurricane Harvey. This donation will help shop classes District-wide recover from tools lost to the flooding. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Orange County 4-H will be hosting the Horsemanship Clinic 101 Saturday, June 30th, 8 am to 2 pm at the Tin Top 2 (T2) Arena, 3810 Old Peveto Road in Orange. Deadline to register is June 20th. The cost will be $15 per person and includes meal and supplies. Cogging papers are required to participate with your horse. On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at approximately 9:57 PM, the Vidor Police Department received a phone call from Walmart located at 1360 N. Main in Vidor in reference to a theft in progress. The caller advised dispatch that a white -male was attempting to return merchandise that he had removed from a shelf inside the store. While attempting to detain this individual, the white male attempted to elude the loss prevention officer and other employees by running from the store. Something's been blowing around the Orange County Courthouse and vehicle owners aren't happy. They've discovered miniscule dots of white spray paint covering their cars, trucks and SUVs. Sheriff Keith Merritt said he's been through this before. The paint has likely come from one of the nearby shipyards. The sheriff has a captain keeping a list of private and county vehicles that have had paint. Merritt said the tiny paint dots are hard to see. "I felt my vehicle," he said.
