Bregman, Springer Back to Back HR for All-Star Win

WASHINGTON -- Give the Astros a bat against a Dodgers pitcher in a jewel event, and some big homers happen. We saw that in last year's epic World Series, and we saw it in Tuesday night's 89th All-Star Game presented by Mastercard. Astros teammates Alex Bregman and George Springer went back-to-back leading off the 10th inning against Ross Stripling, propelling the American League to an 8-6 win over the National League in a wild, dinger-driven Midsummer Classic. Police Reports

Orange narcotics officers arrested a local man Tuesday afternoon for possession of a rock of crack cocaine after a traffic stop. A detective reported he and another detective saw a car in the 400 block of Park Avenue not signal a turn within 100 feet, plus the car did not come to a full stop at the stop sign. The driver of the car was reported to be nervous and shaking. One of the detectives saw a crack pipe in the car and then found a small metal container with the crack. Clifford D. Family Day At Navy Park

The City of Orange Pastoral Advisory Committee is excited to announce a Citywide Family Day held at Navy Park, located on Morrell Blvd.  This event will be held Saturday, July 21 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. House Still Has A Pulse

A wood-frame cottage in the Old Orange Historic District still has a future. The Orange Historic Preservation Commission Monday delayed any action on giving permission to demolish the house because the owner did not appear at the meeting. Owner Chrisleigh Dal Sasso asked to demolish the house at 1001 Orange Avenue. The commission must approve any demolitions within the designated historic district. Ted Scofield

Ted Scofield, 98, of Austin, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2018, in Austin, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange, Texas. Born on April 17, 1920, in New York City, New York and spending his youth in Pinehurst, North Carolina, he was the son of Edwin Lewis Scofield, Jr. and Priscilla McKaig Beall. He graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Two Arrested For Meth Possession

On Monday, July 16th 2018 at approximately 11:09 PM, Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office were working their assigned duties along Interstate 10 at Concord in Vidor. Detectives observed a white in color 2002 Ford F250 change lanes without first signaling its intent.  The subject vehicle was then observed to travel in and out of its lane of traffic on several occasions. LCM Admin Changing Name Plates

Ryan DuBose is the new principal of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School.  DuBose had been the principal of Little Cypress Junior High but will move up to the high school after Todd Loupe moved into the Administration Office. Loupe was named Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the position previously held by Stacey Brister.  Brister was named the new Superintendent of the district last month, replacing the retiring Dr. Pauline Hargrove. Police Reports Includes Theft At Gym

While working out at 5pm Monday afternoon at Planet Fitness in Pinehurst, a woman reported that someone smashed the window in her truck and stole various items including an iPad, clothes, shoes and her work bag.  Police are looking through security camera footage.   A large amount of copper was reported stolen Friday morning from an apartment complex under reconstruction after Tropical Storm Harvey. Mattie E. Taylor Trahan, 101, of Orange, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Meadows of Orange Nursing Home.   Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
