Season tickets to Will Davis’ first year at the helm of Lamar University baseball – in a 2017 season that features five NCAA Regional teams from the last two seasons at Vincent-Beck Stadium – went on sale Monday, the athletics department announced.
Reserved seating is priced at $95 and adult general admission is set at $75, while child and senior general admission is $50 a seat. Fans can buy season tickets by visiting LamarCardinals.com to get them online, or at the Lamar Ticket Office located in the Montagne Center or by calling 409-880-1715.
The season opens with the Cardinal Classic for the third time in four year, and the 2017 edition will have Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Illinois – which played at The Beck in 2015. That season the Illini went on to the Super Regionals as a national seed. After Lamar rounds out the tournament, it will host Fairfield – a 2016 Regional squad – in a four-game set, followed Rice nearly two weeks later.
The home slate consists of five conference series’, Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Nicholls and Stephen F. Austin. Southland Conference rival Northwestern State will also make an appearance, but not in league action.
The season starts on Feb. 17 with a 6 p.m. first pitch against Milwaukee.
LU returns six of nine starters from its potent 2016 lineup including SLC Hitter of the Year Reid Russell and first-team All-Southland Conference performer Bryndan Arredondo. Russell tied a school record with 18 homers hit last season. More than 75 percent of the home runs hit last season will be back for 2017 along with 68 percent of runs batted and 60 percent of the runs scored.
