After disposing of three southeast Texas opponents (Jasper, Liberty and Hardin-Jefferson) BC’s fourth round opponent is the Lorena Leopards, the District 17 champs. Located some five hours away, just south of Waco, the two teams have agreed to use Huntsville as a neutral location. Game One is Friday at 7pm at Sam Houston State University. Games 2 & 3 are Saturday at SHSU beginning at 2pm.
Coach Kayla Gallardo calls the Leopards the Cardinals toughest opponent so far. “They have a pitcher that throws hard,” said Gallardo. The Leopards reached the third round last year, losing to Caldwell. “We’ll have to be aggressive at the plate.”
Meantime Gallardo is not surprised by BC’s success in the postseason so far. “We had high expectations this year. We lost in the second round last year and we were disappointed because we knew we should’ve gone deeper in the playoffs. The team knew they hard to work harder this year (to get farther) and I think we’ve done that.’
The winner of the series will play the winner between LCM and Liberty Hill.

Trying to keep practice interesting Coach Gallardo and the team had themed practices this week. Crazy socks day, etc. Wednesday was throwback jersey day as the team gets a good laugh that Kassidy Wilbur can still wear her Bayou Bats jersey from many years ago.
