BC Coach Chad Landry works on some situational baseball with his Cards on Thursday.
The Bridge City Cardinals will play Liberty in a best of three series beginning Friday in Liberty and Saturday in BC at 2pm for game two and three if necessary. Coach Chad Landry teams have played Liberty before with much success, but this year’s team is different. “This isn’t the same Liberty team we’ve played before,” Landry said. “Those kids play hard, find ways to get on base, and make things happen.”
The Panthers are the third place team out of 23-4A behind Huffman and Splendora. BC is runner up team out of 24-4A, behind Silsbee after a coin flip, with West Orange-Stark third and Little Cypress-Mauriceville fourth.
The Cards are normally cruising into the playoffs after an easy path through district. But this BC team is battle tested. After a brutal non-district schedule, they faced more parity in district play this season than they’ve seen in a decade.
Landry will start Lamar signee Tod McDowell Friday with Alvin JC signee Tanner Doiron starting game two.
The winner will play the winner between Bellville and Scarborough.
