The Bridge City Cardinals playoff run is as hot as the weather was Saturday in Beaumont. The Cards are now 6-0 in the playoffs after beating Silsbee 2-1 in a walk off at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
The Cards scored in the first after four straight hits (2 bunts) against Silsbee starter Noah Whitted. But Whitted would settle in and only give up one hit innings 2 thru 6.
Jacob Goodman started for the Cards. Goodman put two Tigers in scoring position after giving up two hits but they were left stranded. He shut them down in the second and third. In the fourth, Jacob Collins lead off with a triple and was brought home when the next batter, Spencer Uribe, singled him home to tie the game at one.
In the seventh Goodman and the Cardinal “D” sat the Tigers down in order. And in the bottom of the seventh, it was Goodman’s bat that was the spark BC needed. He lead off with a double, only the second hit for BC since the first inning. Gavin Green then put the bunt down in front of Whitted, who picked it up and threw it past first base, allowing Brady Coulter (running for Goodman) to score from second for the 2-1 win.

Unfortunately the news was not as good on the softball diamond.
The LCM Lady Bears were swept by Liberty Hill, losing 9-0 in Game Two.
And the BC softball team battled back to win Game Two against Lorena, but fell in Game Three 2-1 in 9 innings, leaving 13 on base.
