Margaret “Bobbie” Hayes, age 89 passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 in Orange, Texas. Bobbie was born on June 6, 1927 in Andalusia, Alabama to Beatrice Cope Thompson and Alton Thompson.
Bobbie called Orange her home for the past 65 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Orange. She served as an election judge and was a past member and secretary of the Orange County Democratic Party. Bobbie also was a member of the Orange Garden Club before becoming a professional floral designer. She was a former member of the Texas A&M Mother’s Club and enjoyed spending time with her bridge club. She loved to travel and is remembered by her grandchildren for the epic card games she played with them and the multitude of sweets and drinks always on-hand.
For the past 12 years her granddaughter, Jennifer Jackson, has lived with her and lovingly cared for her.
She was preceded in death by husband of 40 years, Curtis “Pete” Hayes, Jr. and granddaughter Kim Hayes.
Survivors include her son, Danny Hayes and his wife Elizabeth of San Antonio, TX and a daughter, Nancy Allen and her husband George of Diamondhead, MS. Six grandchildren; Peter Hayes and his wife Becky of Killeen, TX, Jennifer Jackson of Orange, TX, Bobby Hayes of Bryan, TX, Curtis Jackson and his wife Cindy of Whitehouse, TX, Julia Barnett and her husband Lawren of Everett, WA and David Allen of Omaha, NE. As well as twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will be having a private memorial service at a later date. In memory of Bobbie the family requests that you plant something beautiful in your own yard. The family would like to thank Texas Home Health Hospice, and especially Mary Stout, for the loving care they gave to her.
