The city of Orange was the only one of the five largest cities in the county seeing an increase in sales taxes for February. Information from the Texas Comptroller’s Office shows Orange is up 12.5 percent for sales tax payments made during the first four months of the year. The other cities, along with Orange County, are down for the year.
Payments sent this week to cover February sales are:
Bridge City: $109,026
Orange: $375,787
Pinehurst: $42,493
Vidor: $177,049
West Orange: $83,485
Orange County: $92,901
Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3: $14,360.
The payments for the year to date and the increase or decrease from the first four months of 2016 are:
Bridge City: $481,106, down about $10,000 from last year.
Orange: $1.378 million, up about $155,000 from last year.
Pinehurst: $192,794, down $29,415 from last year.
Vidor: $798,404, down $51,680 from last year.
West Orange: $389,393, down $7,753 from last year.
Orange County: $1.3 million, down about $370,000 from last year.
