A public hearing was held Thursday afternoon to close out the latest Community Development Block Grant project for the City of Pinehurst. The grant was used to repair and update the existing Waste Water Treatment Plant located at 300 Gull Street.
City Administrator Robbie Hood summarized the work done with the $275,000 grant was to replace five pumps and install two new aerators at the facility. Hood said, “Everything is working 100 percent at this time.” Pinehurst’s share of the cost for the repairs was about $37,000.
Hood is already making plans for the next Community Development Block Grant project in Pinehurst. A couple of months ago Hood and Water and Sewer Director Bryan Green met with Waxman and Associates to prioritize plans for the next round of block grants. The group identified a sewer trunk line that runs from Park Avenue to the 34th Street lift station that is receiving heavy infiltration from rain water. “It’s going to help the citizens of Pinehurst in that part of town have better collection services with waste water treatment.” Hood concluded. Pinehurst will apply for the grant through the Texas Department of Agriculture.
