Two people were injured Wednesday morning when a Ford F-250 pickup truck ran into the back of a garbage truck on Texla Road in Mauriceville.
DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis said the driver of the pickup, 23-year-old Alexander Burnett was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was being treated for head and neck injuries.
The driver of the garbage truck was 44-year-old Robert LaFleur of Beaumont. He had minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to a hospital. The garbage truck is owned by Sprint Waste Services of Sugar Land.
DPS said the driver of the garbage truck slowed down to make a left turn when the Ford pickup hit the back. The accident was about 8:45 a.m. on Texla near Highway 62. The road was closed about an hour during the investigation. DPS reported Burnett was given a ticket for failure to control speed.
