A man-woman team made off with 12 bottles of designer-label men’s colognes worth $785 from Walgreen’s late Christmas Eve afternoon. The theft was one of several thefts reported to Orange police during the long holiday weekend.
Officer Logan Holland reported the cologne shoplifting happened about 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the 16th Street store. The man broke the locked case holding the colognes and grabbed 12 bottles. He went and put them into the woman’s purse and they left. The brand names included Versace, Polo and Gucci.
Officer Holland said they left in a white Cadillac SUV that had a front license with MSU.
On Wednesday afternoon, a man exercising at Northway Park on Clark Lane had his pickup truck stolen while he was walking on the path. The man called police at 3:20 p.m. to report the silver 2009 extended cab Ford F150 was missing. Officer Justin Kirkpatrick reported the man had put the keys to the truck in the bed before he went walking. As he came around the turn in the walking path, he noticed the truck was gone.
A woman told police Christmas Eve at 8:30 p.m. that a man with a gun robbed her in the parking lot of the apartments at 3819 Meeks Drive.
Also on Christmas Eve night, police arrested a man at Kroger for disorderly conduct after he was screaming and yelling profanities at people. Officer M.T. Roush reported he went to the store about 8:30 p.m. He said police had several calls about the man during the day and night shifts. Officer Roush even offered to drive him home to his family, but the man yelled “profane and racist” remarks. The 33-year-old man has three previous convictions for disorderly conduct. The man went to the Orange County Jail again for the misdemeanor charge.
A resident in the Ridgemont subdivision reported a burglary Saturday evening. The man called police at 7:18 p.m. and said he had been gone less than three hours. When he returned, he found a side window was broken. An LG TV and an Xbox 360, worth a total of about $800, were missing.
On Sunday evening at 7, police were dispatched to the 200 block of Knox Avenue for a disturbance. Officers found clothing and other belongings on the front porch of the house but the owner had left. Officer Lannie Claybar reported a duffel bag was open with a .9mm pistol in sight. Police seized the gun but left the other belongings.
Officer Claybar also went to a house on Carpenter’s Place for a reported strong-arm robbery. A woman told him she had gone for a ride with a man she knows. While riding, he accused her of making derogatory remarks about a woman on Facebook. She told police he punched her in the side of the face and threw her iPhone and wallet out the window.
