In another weekend case, a home surveillance camera on Hillbrook Drive is helping police track down two people who stole a delivered package from a house.
Police went to Cecil Atkission at 4:11 p.m. Sunday after an alarm company informed them of someone inside the dealership. The security company was using surveillance cameras to watch a man wearing a gray hoodie, black sunglasses and a red cloth over his face.
Patrol Officer N.R. Medina reported he and a Pinehurst police officer went inside and arrested a man. The report said a thin metal stick used to pop open vehicle windows was found inside the vehicle the man was driving.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said that vehicle had been reported stolen in Colorado.
Troy Lee Taylor of Greeley, Colorado, was taken to the Orange County Jail and faces charges of burglary of a building and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
In the case of the stolen Hillbrook Drive package, Captain Enmon said detectives identified the woman in the video and are looking for her.
The homeowners told police the U.S. Postal Service delivered a package to the house at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The home surveillance video showed a car drive up at 4:29 p.m. The car, believed to be a four-door Toyota Echo, either gold or silver, went up the driveway to in front of the front door.
A man and woman got out of the car. The man went up to the front door and stole the package, which contained a bed cover worth more than $100. The homeowner posted the video on social media during the weekend.
Captain Enmon said police have not released the video because they know the woman.
