The city of Orange was the only entity in the county with an increase in sales tax collections for the year to day. Other cities and the county were behind in 2017 payments for the first three months of the year compared to 2016.
The Texas Comptroller’s Office this week sent out March payments to cities, counties and special districts. The payments cover sales from the month of January.
The payments for March plus the year-to-date payments are:
Bridge City: $99,332 for the month and $372,080 for the year to day, about $14,000 less compared to 2016.
Orange: $301,704 for the month and about $1 million for the year to date, about $80,280 more than last year.
Pinehurst: $41,875 for the month and $156,301 for the year to date, about $22,480 less than last year.
Vidor: $172,995 for the month and $621,355 for the year to date, about $53,174 less than last year.
West Orange: $78,059 for the month and $305,907 for the year to date, about $1,756 more than last year.
Orange County: $359,891 for the month and $1.2 million, about $110,078 less than last year.
Orange County Emergency Services District No. 3 (Little Cypress Fire and Rescue) $13,052 for the month and $46,778 for the year to date. (Payments cannot be compared to 2016 because International Paper was removed from the district.)
