Orange police were called to investigate a handful of burglaries during the weekend, including one at a business on Simmons Drive.
A Yeti cooler was stolen Friday afternoon from a garage with an open door. A neighbor living in the 2000 block of Monterrey Drive in the Charlemont subdivision called police at 2:17 p.m. to report seeing a man take the cooler. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the neighbor saw two men in a mid-size Ford car drive slowly through the neighborhood. They stopped after seeing the open garage. One got out and got the cooler and then they drove away.
On Friday evening, police went to a house on Zeto Drive in the Treemont neighborhood. A window unit on a house had been pushed in for someone to get inside. A number of items, including jewelry, were stolen.
An employee at the Sugar Shack, 1411 Simmons Drive, reported a break-in at 6:52 p.m. Saturday. The employee had discovered a door on the south side had been forced open. Quarters were stolen from the jukebox and cash was taken from the register. Captain Enmon said the damage to the jukebox was estimated at $600, which is more than was taken.
A woman living in the 400 block of North Street in the Brownwood neighborhood called about a vehicle burglary Sunday morning. Her car had been parked in the driveway and someone rummaged through the vehicle. A pair of sunglasses was missing. She told police she may have forgotten to lock the car.
