A Brookeland man was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a collision of three pickup trucks on Highway 62 at FM 1078. One of the drivers was given a ticket for failure to yield the right-of-way when making a turn.
Orange police said 54-year-old Darrell Lynn Shute, formerly of Orange, was taken by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He suffered multiple breaks including two broken legs.
The crash was at 5:40 a.m. with a 72-year-old Silsbee man driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound in the 3600 block of Highway 62.
Police report Shute was driving a Chevrolet Silverado C1500 (above) northbound in the 3500 block of Highway 62. The Ford turned left to go to FM 1078 into the pathway of the Chevrolet.
Shute swerved to avoid a collision and hit another Chevrolet Silverado truck that was travelling southbound. That truck was driven by a 34-year-old Mauriceville man.
Police report the Mauriceville man and the Silsbee man were not injured. The Silsbee man was given a ticket for failure to yield on the turn.
