The West Orange-Stark Mustangs saw their season end Thursday night with a 4-2 loss to Robinson in a game played at Magnolia High School.
Rocket pitcher Dru Dziedzic kept the Mustangs (27-4) off balance pitching a one hitter thru five innings. Robinson took a 3-0 lead after two innings, and added a fourth run in the in the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth WOS finally got to Dziedzic with two runs on three hits, cutting the lead to 4-2.
Robinson (29-2) brought in Braxton Ashcraft from third to pitch and he retired the first three batters he faced in the seventh for the save and the Rocket victory. Jack Dallas gave up three runs on four hits with three walks and 8K’s. Ryan Ragsdale pitched the sixth and seventh, giving up one run on 2 hits with 2K’s and a walk.
Robinson will play the winner between Bridge City and China Spring.
The Cougars won Game One 5-2 at Montgomery HS.
BC took a 2-0 lead but China Spring tied it in the third. The game stayed tied until the sixth when CS put three on the board.
Peyton Havard took the loss. He pitched five innings, allowing five runs, seven hits, striking out six, and walking none.
The Cards were outhit 8-4. Skylar Thibodaux had two hits. Luc Hollier and Jackson Tims had the other two hits for BC.
Game Two will begin at 4pm Saturday with Game Three to follow. KOGT will broadcast both games from Montgomery.
