
The Celebration of Life for PFC Winston Dwight Simpson, Jr., 67, of Orange will be Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 10am during Memorial Services at Sparrow Funeral Home.
Military Honors will be conducted by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
Inurnment will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Houston, TX.
He passed July 19, 2022, at the Cascades Nursing Home in Port Arthur, TX.
Dwight was a 1973 Graduate of Lutcher Stark High School.
He joined the Army immediately after graduating. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge With M-16 Rifle Bar, as well as becoming a Food Service Supervisor.
Eight years later, he was Honorably Discharged and returned to Orange.
He began working for Gobert Tractor Service operating and maintaining heavy equipment.
Later moved to Oakland, California where he lived briefly then he returned to Southeast Texas.
He was employed as a Chef at the Isle of Capri Casino.
Dwight later received a 2-year Degree in Social Work and was employed at Schlesinger’s Nursing Home in Beaumont TX.
He enjoyed fishing in any waterway he could get to. He loved playing practical jokes and never passed up a party.
Dwight was baptized as an infant at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley, La.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winston “Shine” Simpson, his mother, Bonnie Frazier, and stepfather, Cecil Frazier.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Boniface Gobert, nephews, Joshua (Ridasha) and Jarad (Jasmine) Gobert, and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
