A day after the National Weather Service put out wildfire warnings for Southeast Texas, Orange County firefighters battled a wildfire that grew to almost 23 acres on the west side of the county.
Orange County ESD1 took the initial call on the fire located on the other side of the canal near Sweetwater and Curtis Road.
The Texas Forestry Service was called in with bulldozers and said the fire was contained about 7pm after it grew from 5 acres to almost 23 in a short time.
Crews will continue to monitor the area for any hot spots.
