The Bridge City Lady Cardinals opened the playoffs with a 6-1 win over Jasper Thursday night in Jasper.
Kassidy Wilbur struck out 14 and gave up only two hits, one of those a solo homerun to Brittany Scott.
Wilbur also helped the offense, singling in the first inning and coming home on a ground out by Natalie Reed. Reed and Wilbur would hook up again in the fifth when Wilbur singled, took two bases on a sacrifice bunt by Kyndal Harrison, and then came home on a Reed RBI single.
In the fifth inning, Jaylyn Burch and Abby Anderson reached base and Wilbur brought them home with a 3 run homer. It was Wilbur’s eighth homerun of the season.
The Lady Cards scattered 10 hits. They will play the winner between Liberty and Houston Yates.
