The Orangefield Bobcat baseball team is one of only five teams left in the area still playing ball. The Bobcats will play Diboll in the third round in a best of three matchup. Game One will be at Lamar University on Friday at 7pm and then Gms. 2/3 will start at 4pm on Saturday in Lufkin.
Both the Bobcats and the Lumberjacks have had recent success in the playoffs. OF reached the third round the last two years and in 2021 made it to the fourth round. And lets not forget that in 2021 and 22 they were in 4A.
Diboll made it to the 3A State Tournament in 2022 where they lost to Brock 7-6 in the semifinals. Last season they reached the fourth round where they lost to West, a team that is also still in the playoffs.

In Class 4A the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks have won two one-game series to reach the third round. They will now play Spring Hill in a best of three.
Gm.1-May 15, 7pm at Lufkin Hudson (Hawks win 2-0)
Gm.2-May 17, 6pm in Nacogdoches
Gm.3-Mary 18, 12pm in Lufkin
In 5A the PNG Indians will play Friendswood in a best of three series at Barbers Hill.
Gm.1-May 15 at 7pm (Friendswood 7-1)
Gm.2-May 17 at 7pm
Gm.3-May 18 at 2pm
And in softball the Kountze Lionettes are one step away from State. They will face Grandview, the team that knocked out Orangefield last year with a very good freshman pitcher.
They will play their series at Madisonville.
Gm.1-May 17, 6pm
Gms 2/3-May 18, 1pm
Also the Liberty Panthers, who defeated Bridge City last week, will play Salado in the Region III Final in Huntsville.
Gm 1: Liberty 8-2
Gm 2/3: Friday, May 17. 5pm
Good luck to all of our teams!
