“What’s it Worth?” Is presented by the Southeast Texas Arts Council (SETAC). The appraisal event is similar to “Antiques Roadshow.”
“No road trip needed,” said Christle Feagin of SETAC.
Barbara Blades-Lines is returning with her whole team of appraisers from Houston, which includes Joanna Floyd, Bill Pickard, Abigale Frances Rigamonti and new to this year, Katinka Ralton. They can cover a variety of items including antiques, fine art, dolls, furs, silver, cut glass, fashion jewelry sporting equipment, cars and more.
Scott Smithhart of Comics Kingdom will be on hand to cover comic books, pop culture collectables and trading cards.
“We had so much fun last year and can’t wait to do it again,” said Blades-Lines.
Last year, Jay Jacobson of Sour Lake brought a picture he purchased for $5 at a garage sale when he was 18 years old and found out it was worth $200. His wife, Shodi Jacobson brought in tiny dolls from Germany. One was valued at $65-80.
“Jay and I have always been fans of ‘Antiques Roadshow’,” said Shodi Jacobson. “We never dreamed we would be able to participate in an event like that until ‘What’s it Worth?’ came to Orange. I look forward to participating again!”
Last year a Tiffany vase appraised at $10K, while a photograph of Calvin Coolidge and Charles Lindbergh valued at $800-4,000.
Tickets for the event are $5 general admission and $10 per item/collection to be appraised. Tickets can be purchased online ahead of time at http://tiny.cc/bbgp001 or at the door.
