HUD-Code manufactured homes could be allowed in certain areas of the City of West Orange within the next month. The West Orange City Council met Tuesday to discuss revising a city ordinance concerning where manufactured homes may be located in the city.
Mayor Roy McDonald summarized the discussion as cleaning up the city ordinance and updating it. Most important will be the inclusion of HUD-Code manufactured homes to be allowed in certain areas of Flood Plain A in the city. McDonald said, “We would allow HUD-Code manufactured homes there with certain specifications that will be included in the ordinance.”
Currently, manufactured housing is only allowed in the City of West Orange in trailer parks. Public Works Director Mike Stelly presented the mayor and members of the City Council with a map showing a red marker outlining where HUD-Code manufactured homes would be allowed. Stelly has been assigned to re-write Ordinance 302-C and Ordinance 302-D with the input received by the City Council and have the revisions ready by the next scheduled council meeting on December 11.
