A 20-year-old Vidor man is facing a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest in connection with taking a medical pickup truck unit from the Orange Fire Department Friday morning.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacob Dillian Eaves after the pickup was wrecked during a chase on FM 105 in South Vidor. He was still in the Orange County Jail Monday.
Orange police said a man who had been released from jail Friday morning walked from the nearby jail to Central Fire Station on Seventh Street. The bay doors were open and he took the truck about 10 a.m. A firefighter noticed it missing.
A patrol deputy saw the red truck and began to chase it. The truck went off the roadway and hit a tree.
Orange police arrested a man Saturday night for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a family dispute at a house on Edgemont Drive.
41-year-old Alejandro Vela was taken to the Orange County Jail.
Police were called to the house in the 3400 block of Edgemont Drive about 10 p.m. A woman at the house said her husband threatened her after she found a message on his phone from a woman. She told officers he he got a long knife and held it to her face.
Her son was outside and heard her scream. The son told police he banged on the door until his stepfather opened it. His mother was able to get outside.
Police said the man also chased his stepson with the knife and threatened to kill him. When officers arrived, the man had gone back inside and locked the door.
Officer L.T. Holland reported the man let officers inside. They later found the knive hidden under the mattress in a bedroom.
A 42-year-man was arrested for DWI after a collision Saturday night that sent an SUV into a utility pole in the parking lot of a business on 16th Street at Link Avenue.
Three people in the SUV that hit the pole had minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The crash was reported at 10:08 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of !6th Street. Orange police said a Hyundai Sante Fe driven by an 18-year-old woman was traveling northbound in the outside lane and had stopped at the traffic light.
A Chevrolet Equinox was also traveling northbound in the outside lane and crashed into the back of the Santa Fe. The force sent the Santa Fe into the Verizon Store parking lot at 1702 16th Street. The SUV then hit a utility pole.
Two women passengers, ages 20 and 19, sustained minor injuries. Police said a 3-year-old boy in the vehicle was not injured.
Officers arrested Mattice Lewis of Orange for DWI and took him to the Orange County Jail.
