Defensive leaders were Trenton Cox who had several sacks, River Snell played well up front. Atticus Moore had a 30 yard interception return for a touchdown.
The 7th grade white team played a combine game along with some of our 8th grade white team guys against Orangefield. The Cardinals won 14-0. Offensive leaders were Judson Carlin had a touchdown pass to Hunter Pinion. JJ Rougeau had a touchdown run and Carlin added a two point conversion. The defense was led by Carlin and Braylyn Atia who had forced fumbles. Carson Richey and Kayson Morris had fumble recoveries. Brayden Warner had a sack.
The 7th grade red team defeated Orangefield 30-0. The offense was led by Alex Chappell (1 touchdown), Bryce Breeden (3 touchdowns), Reese Skinner, and Hudson Hoffman who ran the ball well. Joel Williams and Drake Blackwell had nice catches. The Cardinals played great defense in the shutout of the Bobcats. Leading the way were Jayden Dodge (sack), Reece Skinner, Keagan Trahan, Breeden, and Luke Nelson. The win improves the teams district record to 3-3 on the year and 2-2 in district.
The 8th grade red team lost a hard fought battle to the Bobcats falling 16-12. Austin Frederick open the scoring returning the opening kickoff 75 yards to put the Cardinals up 6-0. Abraham Munguia would also add a touchdown run in the 1st half. The halftime score was 16-12 Bobcats, and that would turn out to be the final as well, as the game turned into a very physical defense battle. The defense was led by Munguia, Brady Havard, Jonah McElroy, Hunter Ford, Braxton Lynam, and Asher Richardson. The Cardinals had a chance to punch it in to take the lead with less than a minute left, but came up just two yards short of the goal line. The loss drops the Cardinals to 4-2 on the year and 3-1 in district.
The Cardinals will play five games next week. The white teams will play at home, and the red teams will travel to Liberty.
