Orangefield JV 40 Hardin JV 6
The Orangefield JV Bobcats hosted the Hardin Hornets and came away with a 40-6 win. The Bobcats would score first in the 1st quarter. Ashton Sumrall led the Bobcats down the field with some tough rushing yards. Zach Morrow would score from 5 yards out with Kaleb Menard adding to a 2-point conversion run to give the Bobcats an 8-0 lead. In the 2nd quarter, Rylan McAlpin would add to the scoring with a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Sumrall would run in the 2-point conversion to extend the Bobcat lead to 16-0. The defense would stop the Hornets before the half to give the offense another shot at scoring. The Bobcats offense would go and score when Sumrall added a 9-yard rushing touchdown. Carson Worthy ran in the 2-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 24-0 halftime lead. There was no scoring in the 3rd quarter but the Bobcats defense got two interceptions from Colt Longron and Colton Michael to stop any Hornet offense. The 4th quarter began with Sumrall scoring from 8 yards and Worthy again adding the 2-point conversion to give the Bobcats a 32-0 lead. The Hornets would add a late touchdown to cut the Bobcats lead to 32-6. The Bobcats offense would march down the field with Menard adding a 4-yard touchdown. Longron would run in the 2-point conversion to make the score 40-6. The Bobcats defense would then get a caused fumble by Longron and Menard would recover the fumble to secure the Bobcats win. The JV Bobcats improve to 8-0 Overall, 4-0 District. The Bobcats have a bye next week.

The Bridge City Middle School football teams traveled to Dan R. Hooks Stadium Thursday night to take on the WOS Stallions.
The 8th grade Red team (4-2) lost to the Stallions 20-0. The Offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage from the start. The line was led by Slade Landry, Dalton Dickson, Bryson Lopez, Camden Adams, and Cj Larkin. Running backs Bryce Breeden (132 yards) and Keagan Trahan (65 yards) pounded the rock all night picking up tough yardage against a great WOS defense.
The defensive standouts were CJ Larkin, Joel Williams, Keaton Snell, Keagan Trahan, and Bryce Breeden. Bryce Breeden also recovered an onside kick on special teams.
The 7th grade Red team (3-3) were defeated by the Stallions 28-22 with just seconds left to play the Stallions scored the go ahead touchdown to win. The Cardinals battled back from a 22-6 deficit early to tie the game late in the 4th quarter. The offensive line dominated up front leading to several long drives for BIG RED. The line is led by Aaron Toups, Miguel Celedon, Romeo Mendoza, Angel Vazquez, Jackson Cobb, and Konner Quigley. Running backs Paxton Arkeen, Braxton Colunga, Romeo Mendoza (5yd TD), and Conner Yost (7 yd TD) ran the ball well straight at the Mustang defense. Defensive standouts included Ayden Wiley, Konner Quigley, Brayden Frederick (sack, onside recovery), Ja’Quavin Burrell, Aaron Toups, (sack), Kaydyn Beaumont, Kase Downs, and Wyatt Ernst. Ernst also had a clutch punt return for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter to tie the game.
The 7th (3-2) and 8th (2-3-1) grade white teams played a combined B game against the Stallions. The Cardinals came away with a 14-6 victory with a late touchdown with less than a minute to play. Offensive standouts for the 7th grade were Davis Ritchey, and Carson Fall. Brody Lonion connected to Brody Barker on a nice 20 yard pass reception. The 8th grade offense was led by the running of Jackson Richey and Braylyn Atia (70 yd TD to give BC the lead). QB Jason Meloncon connected with Atia on a 30 yard TD pass for the Cardinals first score. Atia also had a nice pass to receiver Tanner Moore for a 30 yard reception. The defense was led by Kaston Flowers, Atia, Maddox Campbell, Carson Young, Hayden Holden, Brayden Bull, Jimmy Bercian, and Kowlen Killingsworth. The special teams units came up big for BC recovering three onside kicks to maintain possession of the ball. Kickers Jimmy Bercian and Malachi Lyda nailed great onsides that were recovered by Kowlen Killingsworth, Brayan Collazo, and Carson Richey.
The Cardinals return home next Thursday to host the Vidor Pirates as they celebrate Homecoming festivities.
