The Orangefield JV Bobcats capped off an undefeated season by winning the District Championship Friday evening with a win at home over East Chambers 16-0. The JV Bobcats finished the season 10-0 Overall, and 6-0 District.
The game was a story of two different halves. The first half saw both teams play shut-out defense as the score was knotted at 0-0 at the half. The offense moved the ball with some big runs during the 1st half from Ashton Sumrall, Rylan McAlpin, Kyler Green, and Kaleb Menard but could not score. The defense had some big stops in the 1st half led by Menard, Zach Morrow, Skylar Santos-Matute, and Carson Worthy. The Bobcats came out after halftime and dominated the rest of the game. The Bobcats scored first in the 3rd quarter when Kaleb Menard ran in for a 2-yard touchdown. Menard also added the 2-point conversion run to give the Bobcats an 8-0 lead. The defense, who played great all season, would never allow East Chambers to move the ball much in the 2nd half. The Bobcats would score again in the 4th quarter when Menard added a 7-yard touchdown run. Ashton Sumrall would run in the 2-point play to give the Bobcats a 16-0 final score.
