The West Orange Stark Middle School football team will be sporting new equipment this season thanks to the JJ Watt Foundation. The Houston Texan All-Pro has a foundation that specializes in helping middle school kids get involved in athletics.
Karen Edelman with the foundation says the board has monthly meeting to review online applications received from Watt’s “home” states of Wisconsin and Texas. She said the WOS Athletic Office did a good job of presenting what they needed, including quotes from the equipment supplier. The total amount of the grant is approximately $4800, which will go directly to Riddell, who will deliver the equipment.
Watt raises money through various events like his celebrity softball game and selling merchandise like this special edition July 4th shirt on his foundations website.
