The Orange County Grand Jury this week indicted 24-year-old Jerrod Lee Watkins of Bridge City for a second case of intoxication manslaughter. The latest indictment is in connection with the death of pedestrian Robert Jackson last year.
Watkins was indicted this past September for intoxication manslaughter in connection with a head-on crash that killed 20-year-old Jillian Blanchard.
The two deaths were within minutes of each other about 3 on a Saturday morning in June 2020.
Law officers then reported Watkins was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck that crashed into a Nissan Altima driven by the young woman. The crash was on West Roundbunch Road.
Minutes after the crash was reported, someone found the body of 45-year-old Jackson lying in the roadway of Ferry Drive off Texas Avenue in Bridge City. Jackson had been hit by a vehicle.
After the two-vehicle crash, Watkins was taken by ambulance to a regional hospital where he was treated and released.
Each charge of intoxication manslaughter carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison along with a maximum fine of $20,000 for the second degree felony case.
Watkins has bonded out of jail after each arrest connected with the indictments.
