Walter Dwayne Harris was born August 20, 1952, and passed away December 1, 2025, at the age of 73.
Known for being a giver in every sense of the word, he found joy in helping others. One of his greatest passions was giving toys to CASA children, making sure they felt seen, celebrated, and cared for. His acts of kindness were never for recognition; they were simply a reflection of who he was at his core.
A man who stayed engaged with the world around him, he kept up with current events and always had an informed perspective to share. Whether discussing the news, offering support, or simply listening, he was someone others could count on for understanding and sincerity.
As a husband and father, he was the foundation of his family, steady, loyal, and endlessly supportive. He championed his loved ones in every effort, but nowhere was his pride more evident than in the way he supported his daughter. He was her biggest cheerleader, encouraging her dreams, celebrating her achievements, and reminding her every day how loved she was.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah Harris; daughter, Christine Petty and husband Zach; sister, Shirley Goetze and husband Roger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd and Nina Harris.
Cremation was entrusted to Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North, Orange, Texas.
