Former Pinehurst City Administrator Walter Cobb, who also once served as police chief in Orange, died Tuesday at the age of 88. He was living in Shelby Township in Michigan.
Cobb served in the U.S. Marine Corps, the Army and the Air Force Reserve. He then went on to become a police officer in Houston before being named as chief in Orange. He was chief from January 1965 through September 1967.
In 1987, the Pinehurst City Council hired him as city administrator, a job he held until 1994.
Funeral services are under the direction of E.J. Mandziuk and Son Funeral Home in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
