Krispen Walker is running for Orange County District Attorney. The primary is not until March 2024 but she wants the voters to know she’s committed and ready to serve Orange County. Walker shared her statement with KOGT.
My name is Krispen Walker and I am honored to announce my candidacy for District Attorney. After over two decades of serving the citizens of Orange County as an assistant district attorney, my candidacy is clearly the next step for me to continue and to extend my service
Over the course of my service to Orange County, I’ve stood before more than 100 juries and sought justice for victims in cases including 8 capital murders, 6 murders, and numerous aggravated sexual assaults of children. I sought justice for victims, but I also sought justice for the citizens of Orange County. I represented the State of Texas and Orange County in at least 50 appeals, seeking to preserve courtroom victories. I stood before the highest criminal court in Texas, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, and argued for what was right and what was just. My qualifications for this office did not appear overnight but were established in 21 years of tireless work in bringing those to justice who have violated the laws of this great State.
The task of District Attorney demands that one knows every aspect of the many challenges faced by that office. My experience is not in just one narrow aspect of the work of the Office of District Attorney but is broadly based across the full spectrum. Since joining the OC District Attorney’s Office in 2001, I have served in several capacities – Juvenile Prosecutor, Misdemeanor Prosecutor, Felony Prosecutor, and Bail Bond Board member for several years. I am currently serving as the First Assistant District Attorney supervising the misdemeanor division, handling major crimes, and working on special projects including improving the quality of domestic violence cases and preparing county law enforcement for trends in crime that our community is beginning to see and will probably see much more of in coming years like sex and human trafficking.
Over time, I realized this is not a job for me, it is my calling, a calling fueled by a passion for serving. The Office of District Attorney is highly important to the people of our County, and I am ready to step into that job fully equipped to proudly and effectively represent the State of Texas and the citizens of Orange County.
Orange County is my home. I grew up here and graduated from West Orange-Stark High School. I have a strong sense of community which was instilled in me by my parents who were active in the Orange community for many years. Currently, I am serving as the president of the boards of both the WOCCISD Education Foundation and OCARC. I am a proud member of both the Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) and the Ivy League Garden Club. In past years I served on the board for our local United Way and was a member of the Orange Rotary Club.
Prosecutors take a sworn oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the constitution and laws of the United States and of this State. I took that oath as an Assistant District Attorney and have established a proven track record of doing just that – preserving, protecting, and defending the constitution and laws of the United States and of the State of Texas. It is my love for Orange County and my passion for seeking justice which drives my desire to again take that oath – this time as the District Attorney of Orange County.
